Hon Tajudeen Abbas
Rt. Honourable Tajudeen Abbas was born on October 1, 1963, in Zaria, Kaduna State. He is currently in his fourth term representing Zaria Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly. Honourable Abbas was also elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives following the inauguration of the 10th Assembly.
Before joining mainstream politics, Honourable Abbas was an educationist. His academic quest included a B.Sc in business administration from Ahmadu Bello University in 1988 and an M.Sc in Business Administration from the same institution in 1993. He went further to obtain his doctorate degree in Business Administration from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. In 1989 he became a lecturer at the Kaduna State Polytechnic before moving to the Kaduna State University (KASU) from 1993 to 2001. From 2001 to 2005, he joined the private sector, where he served as the Marketing Manager at the Nigerian Tobacco Distribution Company, now known as the British-American Tobacco Company.
Honourable Abbas joined politics in 2010 and was elected as a Member of the House of Representatives in 2011. He was re-elected in 2015, 2019 and 2023 under the All Progressive Congress (APC) platform.
Honourable Abbas has served in various House Committees such as National Planning & Economic Development, Public Procurement, Defense, Social Duties, Finance, and Commerce. He was also the Vice Chairman of the House Legislative Compliance Committee in the 7th Assembly and House Chairman on Land Transport.
