Sen Osita Izunaso Bonaventure
Born October 30, 1966 in Onitsha, Anambra State, Senator Bonaventure originally hails from the Ohakpu Community in Orlu West L.G.A. of Imo State. The Senator returns in the 10th Assembly to serve a second representing Imo West Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Befrore venturing into politics, Senator Bonaventure began his career as a journalist, working with Satellite Newspapers. He later rose from the position of Correspondent to Chief Correspondent and then Abuja Bureau Chief.
Also, he served as Chief Press Secretary to numerous top Government officials; including Rt. Hon. Agunwa Anaekwe (1992 - 1993), Hon. Minister of Youths and Sports (1995 - 1997), Hon. Minister of Labour and Productivity (1998 - 1999), Late Chief Evan Enwerem (1999 - 2000) and former Governor Achike Udenwa (2001 - 2002).
His first time in the Senate was in 2007 during the 6th Senate, where he also served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas. Prior to this, in 2003, Senator Bonaventure was elected as a member of the House of Representatives representing Ohaji Egbema / Oguta / Orlu West Federal Constituency under the APC. in the 5th Assmbely he served as Chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development.
In 2006, the Lawmaker floated an NGO called Kpakpando Foundation. The Foundation’s primary goal is to reach out to the less privileged and physically challenged persons with his Community.
