Born on the 3rd of November 1960 in the Ndoki area of Ukwa East Local government Area of Abia state, the lawmaker is currently serving his first term as a Federal House of Representative Member representing Ukwa East / Ukwa West Federal Constituency under the platform of the People in the 10th Assembly.
Before joining mainstream politics, Hon. Nkwonta worked at Nigeria Engineering Works Limited in Port Harcourt as Secretary/Personal Assistant to the Chief Engineer/General Manager from 1975 - 1979 before later joining the Pan African Bank Limited in Port Harcourt as the Confidential Secretary/Personal Assistant to the then Head, Public Relations between 1979-1981
